Brass Ensembles

Teiichi Okano – Momiji – Autumn Leaves

Arranged for German Brass by Ivaylo Hristov.

For 4 trumpets in C, 2 horns in F, 2 trombones, bass trombone, tuba and triangolo (optional).

The beautiful Japanese children's song Momiji or Autumn Leaves by Teiichi Okano had inspired the arranger, who was asked by the German Brass to prepare an encore for their tour in Japan. This lovely melody was dressed up in the finest sound of the brass ensemble for a complete bliss of both performers and the audience.

Roumen Balyozov – Music on Occasion – Capriccio after Weber

For 8 French horns in F.

The manuscript of Music on Occasion for horn octet bares the date December 28th, 1986, and was premiered the next year. The subtitle Cariccio after Weber says it all – the famous amongst the French horn players Hunters' chorus from the opera Der Freischütz is rewritten in such an unusual or unexplained manner, so typical to the composer's humorous personality.

Parts in treble clef for horns 3, 4, 7 and 8, are available upon request.

Robert Aldridge – Tango for Gabriela

Arranged for solo violin and brass ensemble by Ivaylo Hristov.

For 3 trumpets in B, 2 horns in F, trombone, bass trombone, tuba and solo violin.

Slovak violinist Boris Kucharsky had commissioned the American composer Robert Aldridge an encore piece for solo violin and string orchestra — Tango for a Beautiful Woman, inspired by Gabriela Skrabakova. We publish a transcription for solo violin and brass ensemble, where the brass instruments are supposed to play all the time quasi pizzicato.
