Paul Dukas – Fanfare preceding La Pιri

Arranged for Brass Quintet by Ivaylo Hristov.

Composed in 1912 to precede the ballet La Peri and originally written for the entire brass section of the symphony orchestra, these brilliant Fanfares are performed independently on stage as arranged for the brass quintet. Paul Dukas cleverly manages the sonority of brass instruments and their ability to sound pompous but also lyrical, convincingly delivering both rich harmonies and a complex polyphonic texture.

Giuseppe Verdi – Va, pensiero Aria of the choir from Nabucco

Arranged for Brass Quintet by Ivaylo Hristov.

The chorus of the jewish slaves from the opera Nabucco impresses the audiense in every single performance. This arrangement lets the brass quintet sound equally mild and homogeneous both in the soft dynamics and in the grandiose sonority, so characteristic of Giuseppe Verdi.
